Our Commitment
SUSTAINABILITY
Why restoring the timber floor you already have is the most sustainable choice — and how the products we use keep that promise.
Restore, Don't Replace
If your home already has timber floors, the most sustainable choice you can make is to restore them. Tearing out a sound timber floor to install something new — whether it's new timber, laminate, vinyl or carpet — consumes fresh raw materials and energy, generates significant waste, and sends the existing floor to landfill. Sanding and re-coating the floor you already have avoids all of that.
Solid hardwood is uniquely suited to restoration. Because the timber runs the full thickness of the board, it can be sanded back and re-finished several times across its life — often spanning many decades. What may look tired, scratched or dated is usually just a worn finish; the timber beneath is still sound, and a professional sand and coat brings it back to life with almost none of the environmental cost of replacement.
Restoring your existing floor keeps the carbon already stored in that timber locked away for longer, eliminates the manufacture-and-landfill cycle of a new floor covering, and preserves the character of the original boards — something a new floor simply can't replicate.
No New Materials
Restoring uses what's already underfoot — no new timber, adhesives or underlay need to be produced.
Nothing to Landfill
The only by-product is fine sawdust, captured by our dust extraction — no boards or packaging discarded.
Carbon Kept Stored
Re-using the existing timber keeps its stored carbon locked away for decades more.
The Products We Use
The finishes, sealers and coatings we apply are chosen with both performance and environmental responsibility in mind. We work with trusted brands that lead the industry in low-VOC (volatile organic compound) formulations and water-based technology, which means lower emissions during application and healthier indoor air quality for your home.
Water-based polyurethane finishes — such as those from Bona, Loba and Polycure — offer durable, long-lasting protection while significantly reducing solvent content and odour. Where a traditional oil or stain is called for, we use respected products from Cabot's, Feast Watson, Intergrain and Porter's, applied with care to minimise waste and overspray.
We also prioritise dust containment during the sanding process using professional-grade machinery with integrated dust extraction. This keeps fine particulate out of your home and out of the environment, and it leaves a cleaner, safer workspace for our team.
